Little Black Cormorants (with a little surprise)

Remember the recent nodding White-faced Heron?

Well, here we are, you and me, back at the same place, same afternoon, this time it's all for the Little Black Cormorants.

 there's a water-taxi coming?

 which side then?

think this' them now....

yep; we're on our way boys

Somethings just makes me think that picture is err, slighly doctored? Good fun Carole. You should enter that in some creative photography competition or other.

Great to see so these cormorants Carole and your edit to the last picture is really beautiful!

Love your commentary. Are their eyes blue or is that just the way the light is hitting them?

...it's been great to get your feedback on this one. The finale' image was fun to create. I don't have Photo Shop but I do have a somewhat aged budget version called PhotoImpactX3. It was originally put out by Ulead, and later bought over by Corel.

Knew I had a 'tinny' (boat) photo stored, so I cloned out the couple sitting in it (with their dog), erased/cloned off the identifying signage on the tinny, and replaced it with my own text to suit.

The cormorants were cropped from other photos I'd taken and then a magic-wand effect/invert, around the bird to eliminate a lot of excess, but that then meant some time-consuming tidying up of little pixels around their outline before I could save as a separate identity (object).

I guess there could have been a way to have changed the colour of the water (replaced) with the same as the colour of the water in the introductory images of the cormorants but I couldn't work out how to do that. I thought, come this far, best leave well enough alone!

And, Laura, you asked are their eyes the colour you see; well it seems to me they are, that's how they show up on each of my photos, and it's almost like a glass-marble effect, I have a feeling it might be something to do with their (eye) lens, so they can see under the water when looking for food.

They've got such beautiful eyes and blank facial expressions. They are certainly worth a study. I often overlook them but will look out for them more.

Oh geeze...someone has way too much time on their hands. Seriously though, I wouldn't know how to begin doing something like that. I'm impressed.
