Love the colourful legs and beak of your dusky moorhen. Nest building in autumn? We have a Lotus pond at the Adelaide Bot.Gardens as well. Aren't they splendid plants? I adore our Australian Wood ducks.

The moorhen certainly stands out in his black dress with bright orange accents. Handsome bird.
I enjoyed your bird shots but just as much I enjoyed your images of the lotus.
Wonderful shots Carole!

Good morning Carole. Your moorhen looks like the one I photographed in London.

It's similar to our moorhen, but colored differently. Love the shot of it on the wood pile! The ducks are beautiful!

Brian, that pile of sticks would be a nesting-site

Great crisp clear shots. What kind of camera and lens are you using. I know I have asked this before but I've forgotten......that happens a lot lately. The Moorhen looks very proud of its big nest.

Look forward to seeing your lotus flowers Carole but in the meantime that tower of nest material is very impressive. Great shots of the waterbirds.

The moorhens are always such busy birds - even if they are common, they are always worth watching.

And who does not like ducks!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

...it really DOES have a mane. So aptly named. And the moorhen, they're more brightly colored than the ones here in USA
