Noisy Miner

It's a shame this bird is so territorial, protecting its location fiercely.  In so doing, many of the sweet-natured smaller birds types are driven away

The antics though of the honey-eating Noisy Miner Manorina melanocephala, can be rather comical at bathing time.  I'm going to share some of my favourites taken in recent days, especially for those of you who haven't seen this bird before.  Sorry birds, that the dipping-bowl is down this day, but not out.

I'm thinking  ... if looks could kill.

Such funny-looking birds, Carole, I've never seen either them or their picture. The last photo is great, capturing the bird with such an expression!

Great photos. The birds are fun to watch. I thought Noisy Miners were everywhere but I have never seen them right where I live.

Oh, that is so fun--what interesting birds! That little yellow patch really lends a kind of comic book character to them... That one picture with the bird on the branch with his head bent is just superlative!

They do appear to be comical creatures. Love that yellow eye and the yellow streaks in the wing feathers.
The second image made me smile thinking of a conversation around the water bowl - like two men meeting on the street corner. :)

Hardly can capture the birds in so near angle..

Great shots, Carole! I love those looks they are giving each other.

I love their antics. Bec & I came across a very interesting and very bold group of Noisy Miners in a park last week. I will post soon but I have so many birds waiting to be posted!!! I thought a bird a week would be hard but since I have been looking while out I now have so many. :)

Great shots of the jokers of the bird world. Inventive, clever and at times a real pest.
